Lamar State College Orange
For more than 50 years, Lamar State College Orange has served a variety of diverse students across multiple disciplines. Throughout that time, much has changed in the way of instructional methods and programs. What has not changed is Lamar State College Orange’s commitment to providing a first-class education that prepares students for a four-year degree and the workplace.
Two-year academic programs are offered in business, communication, computer science, criminal justice, education, liberal arts, theater, natural science and sociology. These academic programs lead to associate of science degrees and will transfer to four-year institutions for students seeking baccalaureate degrees. Thirty technical programs are available, leading to associate of applied science degrees, certificates of completion and institutional awards. Some of these degrees include process operating and industrial technology, instrumentation, and medical office. Customized training programs to meet the needs of local business and industry and offered through the Continuing and Workforce Education Department.
Lamar University is nationally recognized for its quality curriculum for all degree program levels: Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral. The university is broken into five undergraduate colleges, one graduate college, and an honors college.
The university stresses academic achievement by emphasizing hands-on learning at all levels, providing ample opportunities for undergraduate research and supporting an excellent Honors Program. Lamar University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of 29 public universities recognized as a Doctoral/Research University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Several LU colleges and programs hold additional specialized certifications and accreditations recognizing their quality and expertise.
