Planning Administration

Planning Administration consists of the Director of Planning and Community Development and the Planning Secretary.  The Director of Planning and Community Development oversees all aspects of the department, provides policy advice to the city manager and city council, and provides staff assistance to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, and the Historic Preservation Commission.  

The Director is responsible for reviewing plats required by the Subdivision Ordinance including preliminary plats, replats, lot consolidations and minor plats.  The Director responds to questions concerning zoning, processes applications for solid waste services, and administers the Adopt-a-Street Program.  The Director also receives applications for the Residential Tax Abatement Program.  

The Planning Secretary is responsible for issuing permits by the department, preparing agenda packets procuring supplies for the department, and taking minutes of meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment and the Historic Preservation Commission.  She also responds to Requests for Public Information from the Planning and Community Development Department and receives the Statement of Candidate forms from persons campaigning for election to the City Council.
